Little history about our team
John & Maura Mathias are the proprietors of The Beach House | Ottawa & Pesciolino Osteria | Channahon. John originally from Philadelphia moved to Chicago in the mid 80's. Moved around all over the west/southwest suburbs. From teenage years through 30's worked in restaurants from LA to East Coast, anything from dishwasher, chef, general manager. In 2008 opened first solo restaurant then three more, sold that company and now operates the current two properties. "I have always loved the shore, growing up an spending summers with family back home. Seafood was always so fresh, fun and delicious" That love of seafood ultimately is what drove John to open several seafood restaurants all with their own style.
Maura, originally from Boston then St. Croix for many years were she had a small restaurant there. Moved back to the Boston then eventually to Chicago. Maura & John met at the first restaurant that John had opened. Maura & John eventually married. Maura is extremely talented behind the bar were she has "held court" for many years, making guests feel welcome with her sometime off color humor, jokes as well as her vast knowledge of all things sports. She loves all sports and played basketball at a high college level but Football is her favorite. Maura has two children that are both grown and living in Chicago.
Chef | Operating Partner Joseph Petrusek, served our country in the Marines. After that, worked all over Chicagoland as cook, sous chef and executive chef. After working with John & Maura at the previous restaurants for 5 years left to take a opportunity with the White Sox. Due to the pandemic the White Sox shut down food service and Joe offered to help at Pesciolino while he figured out his next move. Luckily for us Joe made a decision to join us once again. The old team was together again and we opened our next restaurant. Joe currently is at The Beach House location. Joe is married to wife Jen and has two lovely children.
Executive Chef Reggie Moncur, with more than twenty-two years of experience in the culinary field, including positions as Executive Chef, Sous Chef, Chef De Cuisine. Chef Reggie has worked all over the Chicago market including the Carlucci group, Francesca group, Tribella, Tin Fish. His love affair with Italian food is evident in how thoughtful he is when creating regional dishes. Reggie joined us in the summer of 2021. He has a beautiful daughter and recently relocated in the southwest suburbs.
